How did you become a personal trainer? What path brought you here?

My son was 3 at the time and i was looking for a career that would allow me to take him and pick him up from school as I am a single parent. I had always had a keen interest in going to aerobic classes, so I decided to make it into a career, so I gave up my job which was recruitment and studied to be an aerobics instructor. I followed this path for the first 18 months of my fitness career and then almost fell into PT. I was working for Fitness First at the time and they offered to pay for a Level 2 gym instruction course for me! Once I had done this I started to build a platform of clients and gradually phased out the classes and just started to build a PT business.  I have since qualified to a Level 3 standard and have been working as a PT for almost 13 years.

What are you known for professionally? What do you have a knack for?

Professionally I am known for helping clients, mainly women, achieve a better body and more structured eating habits. I have a keen interest in training female clients and introducing them to weightlifitng to gain maximum results in the shortest time possible. Whilst I can empathise with peoples lifestyles, I tend to have a no nonsense approach to getting results for clients.

What’s the one problem you are best at solving for your clients?

Simplifying nutrition and training so it can fit into their lifestyle. People think they have to change everything and train 50 times a week to get the best results, so showing them a softer but effective approach can make a huge difference to their lives.

Who have you worked with in the past? And what have you done for them?

I have worked with clients of all ages, backgrounds and fitness abilities. In addition to excellent fat loss results, I have helped clients climb Kilimanjiro, run marathons and complete obstacle courses.  All things they never believed they could do when they started!

What are you most passionate about professionally? What most excites you about your work & the contribution you can make?

I am passionate about delivering a high standard of training to help each client achieve the maximum results they can. My long term goal is to educate women into being “ok” with lifting weights. There is a huge stigma attached to this area of fitness, and there is just not enough education going on in commercial gyms to eradicate it!

What are you passionate about personally? What do you really enjoy? What can’t you stop talking about?

Personally I am passionate about make up. I recently qualified (in 2015) as a professional make up artist, and in my spare time I take part in photo shoots and provide help at weddings and functions to help women loo beautiful on their special occasion. I can’t walk past some make up shops without going in and buying something. I have it under control but if I had all the money in the world, I would buy some sort of make up or skincare every single day!

Where can we find you when you’re not working? What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend or a Sunday afternoon?

When I’m not at work i'll either be walking my british bulldog called Madge, or spending time with my mum or my close circle of friends. I also like to listen to fitness & nutrition podcasts to continuously educate myself and stay motivated . I also LOVE training myself. I too have pitfalls within my training cycles so I enjoy getting back on track, formulating a plan for myself and executing it!!! I like to look and feel my best at all times.

How long have you been a personal trainer?

Within the industry since December 2001, PT since June 2003. so….13 years PT (OMG) What an old bag!!!

Where did you grow up?

Originally raised in a pub, in Berkshire - which has given me life and people skills that you just cannot buy! I can relate to anyone from any walk of life, and background, and it doesn’t phase me at all. I like being around people.

Anything else you’d like to tell people about yourself?

I may come across as scary, but I always have your best interests at heart. I love nothing more than seeing people achieve their goals and more. This is the ultimate job satisfaction for me. Love it Love it Love it!!!
